HELP CONTENT

Shill bidding is the term used to describe auctions where the seller or someone they know creates identities to up bids in order to create a higher sale price for an item.

Shill bidding is forbidden on Bidbuysell and members who are found to use this method will face suspension.

Bidbuysell explicitly forbids any form of shill bidding.

Having friends or family bid on an auction to up the price of an item or using an alternative User ID for the same purpose completely detracts from what Bidbuysell is about: a safe and fair environment.

Those found guilty of Shill bidding will face permanent suspension as Shill bidding is not only forbidden on the site but a criminal offence.

It can sometimes be difficult to prove Shill bidding but members who suspect an auction is or has been suspect should contact us immediately.

Shipping concerns
Bidbuysell asks that members try to work out postage and shipping concerns amongst themselves.

While items that are damaged in the post are not usually covered by the Buyer Protection Program, they are in certain circumstances:

  • If a buyer asks the seller to insure the item and the seller forgets
  • Insurance claims are denied because of poor packaging

Most postal services cover insurance to certain values. If an item is costly, then it is wise to take out insurance before transporting the item. Buyers should ask sellers about organising extra insurance if they feel this is necessary.
