  Reporting an Unpaid Item Dispute

HELP CONTENT

Buyers are obliged to pay for an item if they win an auction.

In the event that a seller does not receive payment for an item, the seller should:

  • Make every effort to contact the buyer and negotiate payment
  • File an Unpaid Item Report

Unpaid item reports may be filed not less than seven days after the auction ended unless:

  • The buyer was from a country or locale the seller specified the goods would not be delivered to
  • The buyer has since de-registered from Bidbuysell

After the seller completes the Unpaid Item Report, Bidbuysell will:

  • Contact the buyer, asking them to pay for the item

One of the following disciplinary and refund actions will take place after the investigation:

  • The buyer will receive an Unpaid Item strike against them and the buyer a Final Value Fee Credit, if both parties agree to terminate the auction payment
  • If the buyer fails to answer communication from Bidbuysell, the seller may ask that the dispute be ended and the Final Value Fee be reimbursed

How long can a dispute be open? A dispute may only be open for 60 days, after which the dispute will be closed immediately. They seller will not receive a Final Fee Credit nor will the buyer be disciplined.

Buyers will receive an Unpaid Item Strike if:

  • Payment is not made
  • The buyer fails to reply to communications from Bidbuysell or the seller
  • The seller refuses to deal further with the buyer

Buyers will not receive and Unpaid Item Strike if:

  • The buyer pays the seller
  • Both parties mutually agree to conclude the investigation

Bidbuysell cannot state strongly enough that most disputes can be sorted with good communication. Many disputes arise from miscommunication. Bidbuysell suggests that sellers and buyers maintain communication and endeavour to solve differences before lodging complaints.
